High in the Indian Himalaya, Ladakh and the remote Zanskar Valley lie between the Karakoram and Zanskar ranges. Known as the Land of High Passes, the region is shaped by altitude, isolation, and mountain crossings rising far above 4,000 metres.

This women-only journey moves through landscapes where life and travel have always been dictated by terrain — offering space, silence, and encounters that unfold slowly, both on and off the bike.

THE RIDE

Road conditions

This expedition begins and ends in Leh (3,500 m) and moves straight into high-altitude terrain. From the first riding day, altitude, exposure, and surface conditions call for calm focus, steady pacing, and sound judgment.

Expect a constantly changing mix of asphalt, broken tarmac, gravel, sand, and occasional water crossings fed by glacial runoff. Roads are often narrow, weather-worn, and sometimes trace steep drop-offs where precision matters. Snowfall in August is uncommon — but never impossible.

Riding days are demanding yet deliberately measured. Traffic is sparse, but conditions shift quickly: wind, cooler temperatures, swelling streams, and thin air are part of daily riding reality. This is not technical riding for its own sake. It is endurance riding — rhythm, awareness, and respect for the mountains over and above speed.

The reward is profound. In Ladakh, silence stretches wide, landscapes open endlessly, and roads exist not because it’s easy — but because people endured.

HIGHLIGHTS ALONG THE WAY

Life along the road

Ladakh and Zanskar are shaped by Tibetan Buddhist traditions and centuries of high-altitude life. Riding through remote villages and past ancient monasteries, cultural encounters arise naturally — unforced, respectful, and part of everyday life.

Riding together

This women-only expedition creates a focused and supportive space. Shared challenges at altitude, long days in the saddle, and moments of stillness foster strong bonds — between riders, with our local crew, and the people we meet.

Land, space and silence

Vast plateaus, deep gorges, great roads, water crossings, and high passes rising above 5,000 metres define this ride. The terrain demands attention and presence — and rewards it with scale, silence, and a new sense of perspective.
